Cardiometabolic Care
We had a fantastic time connecting with so many healthcare professionals at the American Diabetes Association’s 84th Scientific Sessions in Orlando.
Thank you to everyone who visited our booth to learn more about how body composition analysis is transforming diabetes and obesity care. Your enthusiasm, questions, and feedback continue to inspire the work we do.
This year’s event brought important shifts in how we talk about and treat chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes. With the increasing adoption of GLP-1 receptor agonists—especially second and third-generation medications—it's clear that monitoring changes in body composition is more important than ever. We were especially encouraged to see more experts emphasizing body composition outcomes over weight or BMI alone to support truly personalized care.
seca at ADA: Advancing Clinical Conversations
Our team—including Dr. Nina Crowley and members of our Sales, Marketing, and Product Management teams—was proud to represent seca and engage in important discussions throughout the event. Here are some key takeaways we believe you’ll find valuable.
Practical Applications from ADA Sessions
Optimizing GLP-1/GIP Receptor Agonists for Patient Success
During a standout symposium led by dietitians Maureen Chomko and Colleen Dawkins, speakers shared evidence-based strategies for supporting patients on GLP-1/GIP receptor agonists. Key discussion points included:
Helping patients navigate discontinuation rates, manage side effects, and improve satisfaction
Preparing patients for treatment with realistic expectations and ongoing monitoring, including labs, food/activity logs, and body composition assessments
Avoiding a “weight-only” focus by framing care around broader health goals and the patient’s lived experience

Implementing Evidence into Clinical Practice
In her session, Dr. Beverly Tchang emphasized patient-first language and the 4Cs framework: Contraindications, Comorbidities, Cost, and Choice. Her talk explored:
The importance of appetite cues, meal timing, and hydration
The role of nutrition and behavior support when prescribing GLP-1s
The need for research on patient-reported outcomes and medication experiences
This holistic approach supports the inclusion of body composition monitoring to better track patient progress and ensure comprehensive care—beyond just the number on the scale.
Looking Ahead
The 84th Scientific Sessions underscored a major shift: diabetes and obesity care are no longer separate silos—they are increasingly integrated. As clinical teams evolve to manage the complexities of these overlapping conditions, body composition analysis stands out as a crucial tool for tailoring treatment, motivating patients, and improving long-term outcomes.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this year’s ADA meeting and to share the power of seca’s medically validated tools with such a passionate, forward-thinking community. Stay tuned for more insights in our upcoming recap blog and don’t miss our photo gallery of moments from the show.
Until next time—let’s keep pushing boundaries, embracing innovation, and delivering precise, personal, and proven care together.
